Abstract

Programmable amplitude and phase pulse shaping of femtosecond pulses is analyzed for the generation of low-emittance electron beams in a photocathode radio-frequency gun. Beam dynamics simulations are performed to find the optimal characteristics of the driving light pulse. ©2002 Optical Society of America.
