Clarifications were made regarding the role of the Hartmann and Prandtl numbers in viscoresistive magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). The scaling approach revealed that the Prandtl number (P) acted only through the inertia term and when this term is neglible the Hartmann number (H) ruled the dynamics. Numerical simulation confirmed this occurence for the reverse field pinch dynamics. The results showed that when H is low enough pure single helicity state were the only stable state found in the system.
