Abstract

In JET the ECE radiometer is designed to provide combined O- and X-mode operation which has enabled the simultaneous measurements of the pedestal electron temperature profile in both the inboard and outboard region. These measurements are particularly relevant in the study of edge localized modes (ELMs). In general, the characteristics of the pedestal temperature profile are similar on both the inboard and outboard sides, but some apparent asymmetries are observed in the case of big type I ELMs. Some examples of this new set of measurements are presented here. © 2009 World Scientific Publishing Co.
