Coupled-harmonic-oscillator Hamiltonians, modelling different physical processes, are discussed along with their eigenfunctions, which are shown to be generalized harmonic-oscillator functions with many indices and variables. We introduce the relevant coherent states and analyse their peculiar properties. The physical and mathematical consequences of our study are finally considered.
