Abstract

The paper is focused on the application of the quasi-static method to the analysis of source-driven sub-critical systems. The general fundamentals of the method are presented and its exploitation in a numerical code is illustrated. The multigroup diffusion model is used. In order to account for thermal feed-back, the neutronic module is coupled with a thermal calculation, which makes use of the TIESTE-MINOSSE channel code, developed at ENEA (Italy). Some results are presented to validate the neutronic section of the calculation and to enlighten the convergence pattern of the quasi-static numerical scheme. Further results are presented for typical source and reactivity transients in accelerator-driven systems.
