The effect of CoO presence on the crystallographic structure of LixCo1-xO, obtained at 1300°C by LiCoO2decomposition, was investigated with X-ray diffraction analysis. In the absence of CoO, LixCo1-xO with lattice parameter a = 0.4236 nm and the expected value of 2 of the intensity ratio between the reflections (200) and (220) was obtained. The presence of CoO gives rise to an increase of the lattice parameter and a strong (200) preferred orientation of LixCo1-xO.
