The FELICITA I FEL is installed in the 1.5 GeV low emittance storage ring DELTA at the University of Dortmund. This paper will briefly review the experimental set-up of the FEL, the operating facility and will report the results from the first lasing of the device in the visible regime. Furthermore, the potential of the device to operate in the UV will be discussed. © 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
