The characteristics of Hercules active volume XeCl excimer laser facility for high intensity irradiation experiments are discussed. Hercules was found to deliver desired output energy. The efficiency of this device was tested for several applications which include x-ray generation, drilling of copper sheets and shock hardening of metals. Results are found to be satisfactory.
