Laser system for silicon solar cell processing: design, set-up and operation

Abstract

A laser system for silicon solar cell processing has been used to fabricate mono and polycrystalline solar cells. Several samples were processed and tested in order to optimize the most important variables affecting the characteristics of the scribing process which concerns the mechanical and optical arrangement of the system. Optical and electrical measurements were carried out to investigate the possible damages arising from the laser treatments. A pyramidal structure on the silicon surface was also analysed. This paper discusses in detail the results obtained in the study.
