A comparative study of laser-produced nanocomposite ternary SiCN powders, obtained from different SiH4, amines and NH3mixtures, is presented. It is shown that the final composition of powders is correlated with and may be controlled by the experimental parameters. Preliminary results on laser irradiation of SiH4, NH3and (CH3)3Al mixtures demonstrate the possibility of producing nanosized powders composed of a matrix of Si3N4with a different content of Al. © 1993.
