Nonlinear and diamagnetic effects in a neoclassical model of magnetic reconnection

Abstract

A four-field model of magnetic reconnection for tearing modes with m>1 in the neoclassical ordering is studied numerically in its nonlinear evolution, that highlights the effects of diamagnetism and of pressure anisotropy. The effects on growth rates and saturation width are compared with known results. © 2011 American Institute of Physics.
