Aim of the work was to create a uniform flow velocity inside a divergent duct, linking a gas turbine and a HRSG, in order to guarantee both uniform convective heat flux for the first tube rows and the best conditions for the correct operation of duct burners. For this purpose a series of air-foils was inserted to obtain a proper opening of the flow and therefore to guarantee the absence of vortices next to duct walls, as well as in ducts with great angles of divergence. Several CFD simulations were created to optimise the number, position and length of air-foils in two duct geometries.
