Quasi-classical and quantum properties of the Mixmaster model

Abstract

In this talk we discuss several properties of the Mixmaster model. The ADM (Arnowitt-Deser-Misner) Hamiltonian framework is here adopted, and the dynamics reduced to the physical degrees of freedom. On the quasi-classical level, the Hamilton-Jacobi equation and the mechanical-statistical point of view are discussed in some detail; the operator-ordering to be used on the quantum level is also fixed. A full description of the Schroedinger dynamics is then provided, and the eigenfunctions, the energy levels and the properties of the spectrum are analyzed both analytically and numerically. © 2008 American Institute of Physics.
