Spatial transform for spectroscopic signals generated by Gaussian laser beams

Abstract

A simple relationship to transform spectroscopic signals obtained with laser beams of Gaussian spatial profiles into their component along the laser propagation axis is demonstrated. The transform uses the derivative of the signals with respect to laser intensity and leads to the removal of spatial effects due to the uneven laser profile. The usefulness of such a transform is explained with the help of experimental applications.© 2005 The American Physical Society.
