A mathematical model, taking into account both the flow regimes of the condensed liquid and the various types of condensation ('gravity and 'shear'-controlled condensation), has been developed. Experimental tests, carried out to validate the mathematical model, have been performed in a fully visualized Test Section reproducing a Feed-Water Heater typical staggered tubes configuration. Freon 12 was the condensing fluid, flowing downward across a horizontal tube bank. The mathematical model agrees satisfactorily with experimental data.
